FDA to Hold Meeting This Week on Multi-Year Nutrition Innovation Strategy

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will hold a public meeting this Thursday, July 26 to discuss its multi-year nutrition innovation strategy. Meeting discussion topics include: use of a standard icon to denote the claim “healthy” on food labels; creation of a more efficient review strategy for evaluating qualified health claims on food labels; and modernization of standards of identity. Attendees will also discuss new and enhanced labeling statements and claims that could facilitate innovation to produce more healthful foods and consumer food choices. FDA’s consumer education campaign for the updated Nutrition Facts Label also will be addressed. To register to attend the meeting either in-person or via live webcast, click here .
