FSIS Announces Uniform Compliance Date for Meat and Poultry Product Labeling Regulations

Saturday, December 8, 2018

(North American Meat Institute)

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is establishing January 1, 2022, as the uniform compliance date for new meat and poultry product labeling regulations that are issued between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2020. FSIS said this compliance date allows meat and poultry producers to plan for the use of label inventories and to develop new labeling materials that meet the new requirements. It also reduces the economic impact changing labels has on both producers and consumers, according to FSIS. Public comments on the compliance date are due by January 7, 2019.
