Trade Data Through September 2018 Now Available

The latest Trade and Market Statistics Report released by USDA and compiled by the Meat Institute presenting data through September 30, 2018, is now available. Beef and pork export volume and value were higher than a year ago. Beef export value increased 18 percent compared to 2017 levels, while pork export value rose two percent compared to the same period in 2017. Total beef export volume increased nine percent compared to 2017, while total pork export volume rose one percent over 2017 levels. U.S. beef exports to Taiwan rose 36 percent in value and 32 percent in volume compared to 2017, while beef exports to South Korea increased 37 percent in volume and 51 percent in value. In addition, U.S. pork exports to South Korea rose significantly compared to 2017 levels, increasing 43 percent in volume and 48 percent in value, respectively. U.S. pork exports to China have slowed as a result of retaliatory tariffs, declining 26 percent in volume and nine percent in value compared to 2017.
