The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) unveiled a new user-friendly database to help establishments comply with the supply verification requirements in the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). Specifically, three FSMA rules – Foreign Supplier Verification Programs (FSVP) for Importers of Food for Humans and Animals; Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food; and Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Food for Animals – require that importers and facilities perform certain risk-based activities to verify that their suppliers are meeting applicable U.S. food safety standards. The dashboard features information on recalls, enforcement and import alerts, among other content, to help establishments meet the requirements of the FSMA regulations.
