The U.S. Food and Agriculture Dialogue for Trade (the Trade Dialogue), which the Meat Institute co-chairs, sent a congratulatory letter to Secretary Sonny Perdue in recognition of his recent bipartisan Senate confirmation. The letter underscored the importance of food and agricultural trade to the U.S. economy and highlighted the Trade Dialogue’s support for negotiations to modernize, not terminate, the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The Trade Dialogue expressed interest in working with the Trump Administration to expand jobs and exports through NAFTA modernization, citing the critical role Canada and Mexico play as the largest markets for U.S. food and agricultural exports.
