Trade Data Through March 2017 Now Available

The latest Trade and Market Statistics Report released by USDA and compiled by the Meat Institute presenting data through March 31, 2017, is now available. Beef and pork export values were both above 2016 totals. Beef export value increased 19 percent compared to 2016 levels, while pork export value rose 22 percent compared to the same period in 2016. Total beef and pork export volumes also both increased compared to 2016 figures. Beef export volume rose 15 percent, while pork export volume increased 17 percent compared to 2016 totals. U.S. beef exports to Japan showed significant growth, increasing 41 percent in volume and 42 percent in value compared to the same period in 2016. In addition, U.S. pork exports to Colombia and Chile rose markedly compared to 2016 levels, increasing 100 percent and 97 percent in volume, respectively.
