Trade Data Through January 2017 Now Available

The latest Trade and Market Statistics Report released by USDA and compiled by the Meat Institute presenting data through January 31, 2017, is now available. Beef and pork export values were both above 2016 totals. Beef export value increased 18 percent compared to 2016 levels, while pork export value rose 26 percent compared to the same period in 2016. Total beef and pork export volumes also both increased compared to 2016 figures. Beef export volume rose 17 percent, while pork export volume increased 21 percent compared to 2016 totals. U.S. beef exports to Japan showed significant growth, increasing 34 percent in both volume and value compared to January 2016. In addition, U.S. pork exports to Colombia and Chile rose markedly compared to 2016 levels, increasing 115 percent and 138 percent in volume, respectively.
