About the Event

The primary meat and poultry research funding groups will be holding a private, invitation-only meeting April 20 - 21, 2016 in Arlington, VA to discuss whole genome sequencing. As you know, the regulatory agencies and public health authorities have established whole genome sequencing (WGS) as the newest technology for use in addressing threats to public health and enhancing the safety of our nation’s food supply. Dialogue between these agencies and industry representatives regarding the application of this technology and the management of data generated is needed. In an effort to gain an understanding of the current application, future goals and bioinformatics initiatives linked to WGS, a meeting has been planned that will catalyze these discussions.
