Events

Each year the Education & Workforce Development Department, in conjunction with other NAMI departments, conducts a series of annual conferences and educational workshops to meet the needs of the NAMI membership, others in the industry and their retail and food service customers.

Annual education conferences, topical workshops, award programs, committee meetings and an annual trade show. Every event is an opportunity for industry processors, suppliers and press to learn, network and take back valuable solutions.

JANUARY


Environmental Conference for the Meat & Poultry Industry

January 29-30, 2018
Atlanta, GA

Environmental issues are top of mind for meat and poultry processors, with increased information and innovation paving the way for improvements. Addressing regulatory requirements and consumer interest continues to impact decision making as well. This conference will cover critical topics including EPA enforcement, water use and conservation, waste management, biogas, air permitting, and more.


Worker Safety Conference for the Meat & Poultry Industry

January 29-30, 2018
Atlanta, GA

This conference will address the most critical issues in worker safety and provide practical information and insight to help meat and poultry companies reduce workplace injuries and provide a safe working environment for their employees. The conference will also address changes in regulatory requirements and provide information on compliance.

NAMI Meat Pavilion at the NGA Show

February 11 – 14, 2018
The Mirage Hotel, Las Vegas, NV

Showcase your products and services on The NGA Show EXPO floor in the Meat Pavilion. NAMI offers a special opportunity to secure space at a discount not even available to NGA members due to the nature of NAMI member’s valuable products. The National Grocers Association (NGA) is the national trade association representing the retail and wholesale grocers that comprise the independent sector of the food distribution industry. NAMI is partnering with NGA to host a Meat Pavilion at the NGA show to provide you with an opportunity to showcase your animal protein products to hundreds of independent retail and wholesale grocers. This is a unique opportunity for NAMI members to secure exhibit space for less than what NGA is charging their members and promote your products to a segment of the food distribution industry that generates more than $130 billion in annual sales.


Annual Meat Conference

The Annual Meat Conference, co-sponsored by NAMI and the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), will be held in Nashville, TN on February 25-27, 2018 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort Convention Center. The AMC offers comprehensive education sessions that include a variety of ways to explore the latest developments in meat retailing. In addition, the annual Product Tasting Reception continues to be a premier event, and the conference provides outstanding networking opportunities.



APRIL


Meat Industry Summit

April 17-19, 2018
San Antonio, TX

Educational programming for this event is designed to cover multiple interest areas including general business topics, labor and employment issues, regulatory issues, public affairs, and will provide practical insight on how these matters affect the meat industry today. In addition, association business will be conducted at committee meetings as well as a meeting of the NAMI Board of Directors.


Advanced Listeria monocytogenes Intervention and Control

April 25 – 26, 2018

Kansas City, Missouri

This workshop focuses on the challenge of controlling Listeria monocytogenes in order to produce a safe, nutritious product. The Foundation for Meat & Poultry Research & Education has worked with experts across the industry to develop a learning experience tailored to meet those challenges. This year's workshop will include an off-site afternoon at a nearby associate member and other program updates will be implemented. Discussion topics will continue to focus on sanitation, equipment design, corrective actions, sampling plans and data analysis. Sponsorships and exhibits are available for this conference.


JUNE


Center of the Plate Training

June 5 – 7, 2018
College Station, Texas

Foundation for Meat & Poultry Research & Education Center of the Plate Training® (COP) sessions bring together some of the top experts and species organizations to teach food industry professionals  the best and most profitable uses for  beef, pork, lamb, veal and poultry, as well as processed meats and seafood. This three day course is designed to teach the fundamentals of meat specifications by giving a first-hand look at how carcasses are converted to cuts commonly used in retail and foodservice. This event draws approximately 90 attendees.

Pathogen Control and Regulatory Compliance in Beef Processing Conference

September 5-6, 2018

This annual conference provides valuable insights for beef processors, outstanding networking opportunities, and access to the best information to help your business improve its food safety programs. NAMI will schedule webinars at regular intervals that will focus on either 1) time-sensitive information, or  2) topics of interest to small and very small members who may not have the necessary resources to attend in-person events.
