Capitol Hill Veteran Emily Sanders Joins AMI Legislative TeamMonday, March 11, 2013
WASHINGTON, DC, March, 11, 2013 – The American Meat Institute (AMI) announced today that Capitol Hill veteran Emily Sanders has joined AMI as senior director of legislative affairs.
In her position, Sanders will report to AMI Senior Vice President of Legislative of Affairs Dale Nellor.
Previously, Sanders worked for more than two
years on the staff of the Committee on the
Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Policy
and Enforcement, leading whip operations for
key legislation and handling all efforts on
Department of Homeland Security appropriations.
Sanders has additional Capitol Hill experience
having served as a senior policy advisor and
executive director of the Immigration
Reform Caucus for Representative Brian Bilbray
(R-CA), and as a senior legislative assistant
to Representative F. James Sensenbrenner
(R-WI). Sanders also has campaign consulting
experience, educating candidates on policy
issues ranging from homeland security,
transportation, the judiciary, and
She is a native of Texas and received her bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Arkansas.

AMI represents the interests of packers and processors of beef, pork, lamb, veal and turkey products and their suppliers throughout North America. Together, AMI’s members produce 95 percent of the beef, pork, lamb and veal products and 70 percent of the turkey products in the United States. The Institute provides legislative, regulatory, public relations, technical, scientific and educational services to the meat and poultry packing and processing industry.
