Phil Clemens, CEO of The Clemens Family Corporation, Honored With American Meat Institute Edward C. Jones Community Service Award

DALLAS, Texas, May 2, 2012 –Phil Clemens, CEO of The Clemens Family Corporation, today was honored with the American Meat Institute’s (AMI) Edward C. Jones Community Service Award during the 2012 AMI Meat, Poultry & Seafood Convention and Exposition in Dallas, Texas.

In presenting the award, AMI Chairman Larry Odom, president of Odom's Tennessee Pride Sausage, called Clemens’ a “model of community involvement for family businesses.”

Clemens serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Lancaster Bible College and Board member and Compensation Chair of Delaware Valley Wholesale Floral Group, Sewell, New Jersey. He is a former chairman of AMI.

He also serves on the boards of the Ambassador Foundation, Center for Ministry Advancement, Three Springs Ministries and North Penn United Way. 

Previously he served as a board member at Harleysville Savings Bank, Furman Foods, A. Duda & Sons, Profit Sharing Council of America and Highland Lake Bible Conference.

Clemens has been an active fundraiser for various community projects including Easter Seals, Indian Valley Library, North Penn YMCA, Philadelphia Food Bank and Penn Foundation.

Clemens is also active in Calvary Church of Souderton where he serves on the Elder Board and teaches adults. He was an elected Borough Councilor for Souderton Borough and a member of Governor Ed Rendell’s Economic Summit. He still serves on Pennsylvania Senator Mike Brubaker’s and Representative Scott Boyd’s business advisory committees.

Clemens leads training sessions within The Clemens Family Corporation for all levels of leadership including future family leaders.  He is also a frequent speaker on family business issues and has shared the Clemens story in varied locations. 

“Phil Clemens is one of the most dedicated community servants I’ve ever had the pleasure to know,” Odom said.  “Whether helping feed the poor or working with family businesses to help them be the best they can, Phil’s energy and commitment are boundless.”

 The award is named in honor of former AMI Board member, the late Edward C. Jones of Jones Dairy Farm, in Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin, who was a model of community service.  


AMI represents the interests of packers and processors of beef, pork, lamb, veal and turkey products and their suppliers throughout North America. Together, AMI’s members produce 95 percent of the beef, pork, lamb and veal products and 70 percent of the turkey products in the United States. The Institute provides legislative, regulatory, public relations, technical, scientific and educational services to the meat and poultry packing and processing industry.
