Expo Highlight: Operations Management Sessions To Deliver Competitive Training And Solutions to Latest Industry Challenges

Washington, D.C. – The 2012 Meat, Poultry & Seafood Industry Convention and Exposition, May 1-3, 2012, at the Dallas Convention Center in Dallas, Texas, will offer a track of operations management education sessions, scheduled for the mornings of May 1-2, to registered attendees interested in gaining valuable training and solutions to the latest challenges faced by facilities looking to stay competitive and in line with the latest capabilities on the market.

Sessions on operations management scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, May 1, will include: Sanitation and Maintenance for the Meat and Poultry Industry, starting at 9 a.m., which will focus on reducing workplace injuries and preventing fatalities associated with third-shift maintenance and sanitation industry operations. This session will emphasize the high-hazard worker exposures related to equipment and machine lockout/tagout and entry into permit-required confined spaces. The hazards associated with walking and working surfaces, personal protective equipment, the use of high-pressure and temperature water systems and hazard communication will also be up for discussion.

The day’s second session, Capital Equipment Justification, starting at10 a.m., will focus on evaluating all potential options such as modernizing one piece at a time, or the whole line; building or relocating whole plants; increasing overall capacity at one location to allow for closing other locations; and a global and strategic view. Attendees will learn the process of capital equipment justification to realize operational benefits for their company.

Operations management sessions scheduled for the morning of Wednesday, May 2, will include Packaging Operations Success, starting at 9 a.m., which will examine how packaging aligns with supply chain cost reductions and sustainability strategies through practical insights and case studies.

The day’s second session, Product Lifecycle Management, scheduled for 10 a.m., will discuss how product lifecycle management is a necessary strategy used to build a solid foundation for an organization’s engineering communications network. Session attendees will reap the benefits of product leadership and longevity and understand the importance of quick time to market.

In the day’s final session, Development of Interventions for Equipment, and scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., speakers will review sanitary equipment design principles and focus applying those principles to various pieces of equipment. Attendees will understand how to evaluate equipment from a sanitary design perspective, review types of interventions and how to apply those interventions to equipment with a hands-on case study.
