National Hot Dog & Sausage Council and National Beer Wholesalers Association `Link' up to Celebrate National Sausage Month in October

Washington, D.C. – To commemorate National Sausage Month in October, the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council and the National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) are pleased to present a new brochure, “Guide to Beer and Sausage: Pairings and Recipes,” which contains a detailed beer and sausage pairing guide and a collection of five delicious recipes featuring sausage cooked with beer in innovative ways. 

The Germans may have perfected the art of beer and food pairing with their love of brew and sausage, but beer and sausage have long been a traditional, favorite combination both in Europe and the U.S. 

“National Sausage Month is a celebration of everything Americans love about these links—from the folklore to the flavor,” said National Hot Dog & Sausage Council President Janet Riley. “This new recipe collection presents the traditional sausage flavors we all love, but paired and cooked with various beer styles.  Not only are these recipes ideal for bringing something new to the table this fall, they are also economical.”

From Grilled Knockwurst with Golden Onions to German-Style Beer Fondue, these new recipes are sure to spice up your own Oktoberfest celebration or tailgating menu. 

Other recipes include Slow Cooked Sausage in Beer Mustard Sauce, Smoked Sausage Stew with Biscuit Crust and Sausage, Potato and Arugula with Lager Beer Dressing.  Each recipe is cooked with a different variety of beer, ranging from pilsner to lager.
