Annual Worker Safety, Human Resources and the Environment Conference to Feature Timely Sessions on Hot Topics

Washington, D.C. -- New, expanded and updated sessions on today’s most pertinent industry issues will be featured at the American Meat Institute Foundation’s 2009 Conference on Worker Safety, Human Resources and the Environment April 5-7, 2009, at the Westin Tabor Center, Denver, Colo.  For the first time ever, environmental programming is being added to the conference to offer attendees more value at a single conference.

 Johnny Miller, Ph.D., a professor, coach and author, will be the keynote speaker during the first general session. His lecture, “Lead, Follow, or Get out of the Way,” will educate attendees on how to improve their leadership effectiveness and grow towards their full potential.

 Miller has more 25 years experience as a senior executive and executive coach. He was one of the founders and senior executives of HealthNet and has also served over 15 years as the CEO of various organizations. The 2nd edition of his book, Coach Yourself To Succeed @ Work has recently been published.

 Some scheduled educational sessions include: Worker Safety: 2008 OSHA Review and 2009 Update with Neil Wasser, chairman, Constangy, Brooks& Smith, LLP; New Federal Legislation and Regulation for the Environment, with Scott Reisch, partner, Hogan and Hartson; Human Resources: Role of a Supervisor with Richard Fagerlin, principal, Peak Solutions; Environment: Case Studies Handling & Disposing of Recalled Meat, with Dr. David Meeker, National Renderers Association; Worker Safety: Slips, Trips and Falls, with Eric Reynolds, safety/ergonomics manager, Cargill Taylor Beef; Human Resources: Donning and Doffing, with James Hardison, vice president of human resources, Indiana Packers Corporation, and more.

 The annual Worker Safety Awards will be presented in the final session on Tuesday, April 7.  Registration fees for those registering before March 16, 2009, are $475 for AMI members, $825 for non-members and $415 each when three or more members register together.  After March 16, 2009, registration rates increase to $525 for AMI members, $825 for non-members, $465 each when three or more members register together.

Please mention the American Meat Institute to receive the special group rate of $169 single or double occupancy. Hotel reservations must be canceled 24 hours prior to day of arrival to receive a full refund.
