AMI Offering Family Business Leadership Seminar

Washington DC — The American Meat Institute is teaming up with one of the premier family business programs — Loyola University Chicago Family Business Center — to offer a unique educational opportunity for family business leaders. This education seminar customized for meat industry family business leaders will be held on September 16-17, 2008, at the Loyola University Chicago Family Business Center.

Participants will learn about best practices in place at some of the best-run family businesses in the United States. Expert faculty will guide attendees through important sessions on the role of outside boards, dividend policies, family employment guidelines, governance, family meetings and preparing the next generation.

“This program provides a unique opportunity for family business leaders to learn from both experts and each other,” said AMI Chairman Dave Miniat, president of Ed Miniat, Inc. “As the leader of a family business, I am committed to ensuring that family-run companies continue to be a vital part of the fabric of our industry.   Based upon my experience with Loyola’s Family Business Center, I’m confident this seminar will do just that,” he said.

The Loyola Family Business Center is one of the top educational resources for family business leaders, using their expertise to provide the support needed to grow, transition and learn from each other. The Center offers an extensive array of resources including specialized workshops and seminars, peer advisory groups and the Next Generation Leadership Institute which is focused on preparing future family business leaders for their unique roles
