WASHINGTON, DC — The American Meat Institute (AMI) today announced that Tom Super has joined the Institute’s public affairs department.

In his new position as director of media outreach, Super will focus on proactive outreach to media on a host of important topics including food safety, animal welfare, nutrition, economics and worker safety.

Super comes to AMI with a strong track record in communications planning and execution.

Prior to joining AMI, Super spent six years at Greener and Hook LLC, an established Washington-based strategic communications firm where his focus was on planning and executing communications strategies and delivering strategic communications and media relations counsel to corporations, trade associations, ad-hoc organizations, non-profits, and political candidates at the local, state and federal levels.  He established a record of success in generating positive media impressions for clients through pro-active press/media relations activity, crisis communications/rapid response efforts and issue advocacy campaigns.

Super also worked for three years on Capitol Hill as a legislative aide and in the press office for United States Senator John W. Warner (R-VA), from 1999 into 2002.

A graduate of Washington & Lee University, in Lexington, Virginia, Super earned his bachelor of arts degree in public policy & public affairs.

“We are extremely pleased to have Tom on board,” said AMI President and CEO J. Patrick Boyle. “His focus will be on highlighting the many positive aspects and developments that occur routinely in the meat industry, so that the media and the American consumer receive a fuller picture of our many accomplishments.”
