The American Meat Institute (AMI) has long opposed mandatory price reporting, but now that it is in effect, we are committed to ensuring that it works as well as it possibly can.
One of AMI’s chief
concerns regarding AMS’s Mandatory Reporting
Program is that it protect company
confidentiality. The 3/60 rule was designed
with that goal in mind, but excluded one-third
of reports from publication.
AMS’ new “3/70/20” rule will be a step in
the right direction – balancing the need for
information with the desire to protect
AMI represents the
interests of packers and processors of beef,
pork, lamb, veal and turkey products and their
suppliers throughout North America.
Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Institute
provides legislative, regulatory and public
relations services, conducts scientific and
economic research, offers marketing and
technical assistance and sponsors education
