Washington, DC—The American
Meat Institute (AMI) announced today that Marie
E. DeLucia has joined AMI as director of
education and professional
development.
DeLucia will be responsible
for planning and managing AMI's annual
convention and major meetings. She also will
coordinate all education and training efforts
of the AMI Foundation. Prior to joining AMI,
DeLucia served as the director of membership
communities and services for the Construction
Specifications Institute in Alexandria, Va.,
where she managed continuing education
programs, member services and benefits for
society members.
Previously, as a
manager of professional development at the same
company, DeLucia produced online seminars for
architects and construction managers and
managed certification programs. DeLucia also
has worked in various positions for APICS, The
Educational Association for Resource Management
and World Learning, Inc.
DeLucia has
completed coursework for her doctorate (all but
dissertation) in education administration and
policy, specializing in international education
policy, at George Washington University
Graduate School of Education and Human
Development. She also received her master’s
degree in international development studies
from George Washington University Elliot School
of International Affairs and a bachelor’s
degree in political science from St. Mary’s
College in Notre Dame, Ind.
DeLucia is
fluent in Italian and was awarded a double
major in Italian by the University of Notre
Dame and previously taught English in the Czech
Republic.
AMI represents the interests
of packers and processors of beef, pork, lamb,
veal and turkey products and their suppliers
throughout North America. Together, AMI's
members produce 95 percent of the beef, pork,
lamb and veal products and 70 percent of the
turkey products in the U.S. Headquartered in
Washington, DC, the Institute provides
legislative, regulatory, public relations,
technical, scientific and educational services
to the industry. Its affiliate, the AMI
Foundation, is a separate 501(c)3 organization
that conducts research, education and
information projects for the industry.
