Hantover's Bernard Huff Names American Meat Institute Supplier of the Year

Friday, October 29, 1999

Bernard Huff, president of Hantover, Inc. in Kansas City, MO, today was named American Meat Institute Supplier of the Year. The award was presented during Worldwide Food Expo ’99, October 28-31, 1999, at Chicago’s McCormick Place. Huff and his company Hantover have been members of AMI for more than 40 years. Throughout his career, he has actively worked to promote the interests of the industry and to foster increased processor-supplier communication.

“He has done that by getting involved in AMI and earning the trust and respect of its members,” said AMI Chairman Ken Taylor, president of Taylor Packing Company, Inc. “In turn, they have entrusted many leadership roles to him.”

Huff has served on the AMI Board of Directors, the AMI Convention committee, the AMI Supplier Executive Committee and has chaired the Supplier Committee.

Huff has been a leader in the fight for the reestablishment of the equipment approval program within USDA. “And he has handled this delicate battle with characteristic civility and gentlemanliness,” Taylor noted, in presenting the award.

“Hantover is one of the most reliable names in the business. Their stunning and packaging equipment, cutlery and other products are staples in many plants like mine,” Taylor said. “We are pleased to recognize and honor Hantover and Bernie Huff for their long and untiring support of this industry.”

AMI represents the interests of packers and processors of beef, pork, lamb, veal and turkey products and their suppliers throughout North America. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Institute provides legislative, regulatory and public relations services, conducts scientific and economic research, offers marketing and technical assistance and sponsors education programs.
