American Meat Institute Portal MeatAMI.com Wins Award for Excellence

MeatAMI.com, the American Meat Institute’s (AMI) portal, will be honored with a certificate of excellence as part of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Gold Circle Awards Program. The award will be presented at ASAE’s convention December 2-4, 2001, in Baltimore, Maryland.

AMI launched the comprehensive meat and poultry industry portal in November 2000. The database-driven site features up to the minute news reporting that can be viewed on-line or emailed to subscribers, on-line meeting registration, a search engine, an interactive “chat” function, a Crisis Management Center, a grass roots lobbying feature and a member “lookup” function.

Today, more than 5,500 members, non-members, policymakers and news media subscribe to receive news and press releases from MeatAMI.com. The site provides invaluable resources to the meat and poultry community at large and includes a host of exclusive “members only” functions.

MeatAMI.com was constructed by an outside contractor with oversight from an internal AMI Portal Committee.

“MeatAMI.com has been a labor-intensive team effort by the AMI staff. We are honored to be recognized by ASAE with this award,” said AMI President J. Patrick Boyle.

AMI represents the interests of packers and processors of beef, pork, lamb, veal and turkey products and their suppliers throughout North America. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Institute provides legislative, regulatory and public relations services, conducts scientific and economic research, offers marketing and technical assistance and sponsors education programs.
