Taylor Packing's Kenneth Taylor Elected AMI Chairman for 1998-1999 Term

Kenneth H. Taylor, Jr., president and CEO of Taylor Packing Co., Inc., in Wyalusing, PA, has been elected to a one-year term as chairman of the American Meat Institute (AMI). He will serve from September 1998 to October 1999.

Taylor's election came during AMI's Annual Business Meeting, which preceded the 1998 Annual Convention and Innovation Showcase, September 17-19, 1998, in Philadelphia, PA.

Taylor has been with Taylor Packing since 1969 and was named president and CEO in 1979. Earlier, he served three years in the U.S. Army, completing tours of duty in Germany and Vietnam, and attaining the rank of Captain. Taylor serves on the boards of a number of community and civic organizations, including the People’s State Bank, the Wyalusing Industrial Development Corporation and Guthrie Health Care System. He has also served as a director of the Central Bradford County United Way and Wilkes University.

Taylor graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH, with a B.A. in economics.

“Ken’s experience will be invaluable as he leads AMI and the meat and poultry industry through what promises to be an exciting and challenging year,” said AMI President J. Patrick Boyle. “We look forward to a productive year under his chairmanship.”

AMI represents the interests of packers and processors of beef, pork, lamb, veal and turkey products and their suppliers throughout North America. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Institute provides legislative, regulatory and public relations services, conducts scientific and economic research, offers marketing and technical assistance and sponsors education programs.
