AEW Thurne, Inc. CEO Michael Strauss Honored With AMI Supplier Of The Year Award

Saturday, October 20, 2001

Michael Strauss, CEO of AEW THURNE, INC. in Lake Zurich, IL, tonight was honored with American Meat Institute (AMI) Supplier of the Year Award. The presentation was made at the Chairman's Gala during the International Meat, Poultry and Seafood Convention and Exposition in Chicago, IL.

Each year, AMI honors an outstanding member of the Supplier Community that has contributed to the industry's health and success. AEW THURNE has been an innovator in portion control. Strauss has served as CEO since he co-founded the company’s U.S. operations in 1979.

Through investments in research and technology the company has provided the meat and poultry industry with phenomenal advances in the ability to slice and portion fresh, chilled or hard frozen, irregular bone-in or boneless products with precision.

By combining vision and computer technology to produce an accurate profile of the product, its equipment can quickly and automatically calculate the required slice thickness to produce accurate, constant weight or constant thickness portions.

"Michael Strauss has a reputation for listening to his customers and taking their comments, suggestions and criticisms seriously in an effort to produce the best possible equipment," said AMI Chairman W. Dan Wright, president and CEO of Wright Brand Foods, Ltd. in Vernon, TX. "Michael and his company represent what suppliers and processors can achieve by working together."
