Catlett, Kristol and Begala To Speak At AMI Convention 2000

Washington, DC - The American Meat Institute’s (AMI) 2000 Annual Convention, featuring the Innovation Showcase, will feature futurist Lowell Catlett and political pundits Paul Begala and William Kristol as keynote speakers. AMI’s 2000 Annual Convention will take place October 12-14, 2000, at the Las Vegas Hilton in Las Vegas, NV.

Dr. Lowell Catlett will discuss “American Agriculture: A Futuristic Look” on October 13. His presentation will include a look at the future of agriculture and food. Dr. Catlett is a professor at New Mexico State University and expert on emerging technologies. His thought-provoking and highly entertaining presentations have engaged audiences both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Catlett received his doctorate in Economics from Iowa State University and has twice received the Don C. Roush Award for Excellence in Teaching. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Burlington Foundation Achievement Award for Outstanding University Teaching. He is a consultant to the U.S. Departments of Agriculture, the Interior, Defense and Labor.

On October 14, two of America’s favorite pundits, Paul Begala and William Kristol, will debate issues of importance to the industry and offer predictions on the upcoming elections. Paul Begala and William Kristol, from the left and the right respectively, will inform and entertain attendees with their political insights and sharp wit.

Paul Begala served in the Clinton Administration as Counselor to the President and advised the President on economic, domestic and international issues. As one of the President’s closest advisors, he was also one of the Administration’s principal public spokesmen. Begala now serves as co-host of MSNBC’s Equal Time and provides political analysis for MSNBC’s The News with Brian Williams. He is also a contributing editor for George magazine.

William Kristol is editor and publisher of the influential Washington-based political magazine, The Weekly Standard. Widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading political analysts and commentators, Mr. Kristol regularly appears on all the major television public affairs shows. Before starting The Weekly Standard in 1995, Mr. Kristol led the Project for the Republican Future, where he helped shape the strategy that produced the landslide 1994 Republican congressional victory.
