Australian Animal Behavior Expert Dr. Paul Hemsworth, professor at the University of Melbourne, will headline the 2006 International Meat Animal Welfare Conference (IMAWRC), cosponsored by the AMI Foundation, Federation of Animal Science Societies (FASS) and the American Meat Science Association (AMSA). The IMAWRC immediately precedes the AMI Foundation Animal Care & Handling Conference, Feb. 23-24, 2006.

Dr. Hemsorth directs the
University of Melbourne’s Animal Welfare
Science Center and is one of the world’s
leading experts on the social, physical and
human factors impacting farm animal welfare and
behavior. He has studied the human-animal
relationship in animal production extensively.
He has authored 120 refereed papers, 150 book
chapters and a book.
Hemsworth is an
adjunct professor in The Ohio State University
Department of Animal Science.
