Thursday, January 22, 1998

American Meat Institute (AMI) President J. Patrick Boyle announced that Janet Riley has been named vice president of public affairs.

Riley has served as director of public affairs at AMI since 1991. During her tenure, she has assumed a number of new responsibilities, including management of the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, which the association established in 1994, and communications support for the American Meat Institute Foundation. Among her other responsibilities are public affairs strategies, media relations, the AMI Newsletter and the AMI Animal Welfare Committee.

“Janet has demonstrated a tremendous capacity for managing tough issues and communications challenges,” said Boyle. “She provides a valuable service to AMI members and the industry.”

Prior to joining AMI in 1991, Riley served in media and community relations with the American Health Care Association. She is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

AMI represents the interests of packers and processors of beef, pork, lamb, veal and turkey products and their suppliers throughout North America. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Institute provides legislative, regulatory and public relations services, conducts scientific and economic research, offers marketing and technical assistance and sponsors education programs.
