AMI Foundation to Host Recordkeeping Workshop, January 22, 1998, in Memphis, TN.

The American Meat Institute Foundation (AMIF) will host a recordkeeping workshop, “Recordkeeping: Yours and Theirs,” January 22, 1998, at the Holiday Inn Select Downtown, Memphis, TN.

The issue of accurate recordkeeping continues to gain importance, especially with the implementation of Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), the upcoming implementation of the Pathogen Reduction/Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) regulation and the increased importance being placed upon process deficiency reports (PDRs). Accumulating quantities of PDRs or submitting insufficient corrective action proposals could result in a plant shut down.

“Recordkeeping: Yours and Theirs” is designed to help plant personnel avoid such enforcement actions. This one day seminar is divided into two segments. The first addresses the issue of keeping “good” records. AMI staff and industry experts will discuss the legal requirements constituting “good” records, as well as the importance of monitoring and corrective action records. They will also instruct participants how to properly analyze their own records to avoid enforcement actions.

The second segment of the program addresses government-generated records. Participants will be instructed how to prepare, file and negotiate appeals to PDRs, how to recognize repetitive causes for deficiencies and how to correct those deficiencies. The experts will also discuss how best to deal with enforcement actions, including how to write an effective corrective action plan and how to communicate with employees, customers, consumers and the press.

The registration fee for this workshop is $195 for AMI members or $175 per person for groups of three or more members from the same company. The fee for non-members is $295.
