The award was established in memory of Ed Jones of Jones Dairy Farm, who was a model of community service in our industry. In presenting the award, AMI Chairman Bill Buckner, corporate vice president, Cargill, Inc. & CEO, Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation, said Devault Foods and Fillippo embody this same generous spirit.

Fillippo is active on several boards of his alma mater West Chester University. He also chairs the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry, as well as the Paoli Hospital Foundation, and serves on the boards of the Chester County Development Council, Chester County Industrial Development Authority, and Central and Western Industrial Development Authority.

As a former educator himself, Fillippo is committed to helping local children and was recently awarded the Distinguished Citizen Award by the Chester County Council Boy Scouts of America. Tom is often a guest lecturer in his local school district teaching grade school students about economics and how to start their own businesses.

“Tom encourages a community spirit at Devault Foods, where the company regularly supports The American Cancer Society and The Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Philadelphia Food Bank,” Buckner said. “A close associate of Tom’s who nominated him said ‘he never stops giving to his community.’ That is why AMI is proud to give this award to Tom Fillippo and Devault Foods.”
