American Meat Institute Honors Ecolab With Supplier of the Year Award

Chicago - The American Meat Institute (AMI) tonight honored Ecolab with the 2003 Supplier of the Year Award. Doug Milroy, vice president and general manager, Ecolab Inc. Food & Beverage and Water Care Divisions, North America, accepted on behalf of Ecolab. The award was announced during the 2003 American Meat Institute Chairman's Gala at the Field Museum in Chicago. Ecolab shared the award with co-recipient Silliker, Inc.

Ecolab offers a wide variety of multiple-intervention strategies, including livestock disease interventions, advanced sanitation technologies, personnel hygiene programs, food surface treatments and food irradiation. Combined with Ecolab's expertise in delivering highly effective cleaning, sanitation and service solutions, can help to greatly reduce the risk of contamination in a customer's operation.

Thanks in large part to the involvement and scientific expertise of many members of Ecolab's team, the AMI Foundation Listeria control workshop was expertly organized and presented to dozens of companies across all segments of the industry. The company contributed critical knowledge about the proper use of sanitation products and systems, part of the St. Paul, Minn.-based firm's numerous food safety technologies and services.

Ecolab has been a committed and engaged AMI member and has been actively engaged in the Institute's Supplier Committee.

AMI represents the interests of packers and processors of beef, pork, lamb, veal and turkey products and their suppliers throughout North America. Together, AMI's members produce 95 percent of the beef, pork, lamb and veal products and 70 percent of the turkey products in the United States. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Institute provides legislative, regulatory, public relations, technical, scientific and educational services to the industry. Its affiliate, the AMI Foundation, is a separate 501(c)3 organization that conducts research, education and information projects for the industry.
