Best-Selling Author of Good to Great Will Headline AMI General Session in Chicago in October

Washington, DC—Jim Collins, author of best selling book Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap … and Others Don’t, will share insights on how a good company can become great during the Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, session at the International Meat, Poultry & Seafood Convention and Exposition, part of Worldwide Food Expo 2003, in Chicago Oct. 29 – Nov. 1, 2003.

The session, led by Collins, one of the most knowledgeable business consultants in the country, is titled “Taking the Industry From Good to Great: How Meat & Poultry Companies Can Make the Leap.” Collins’ book is based on a five-year research project that answers the question, “Can a good company become a great company and, if so, how?” Collins will join a group of industry leaders for a discussion at the conclusion of his remarks.

Regarded as a student and teacher of enduring great companies, Collins work has been featured in Fortune, The Economist, USA Today, Industry Week, Inc., and Harvard Business Review. His books have become a fixture of the Business Week Best Seller List and have been translated into 17 languages.

Collins began his research and teaching career on the faculty at Stanford Graduate School of Business where he received the Distinguished Teaching Award in 1992. In 1995, he founded a management-research laboratory in Boulder, CO, where he now conducts multi-year research projects and works with executives from the private, public and social sectors. He has served as a teacher to senior executives and CEOs at corporations including Starbucks, Merck, Times Mirror, Patagonia, American General, W.L. Gore and more.
