Registration Now Open for Updated Advanced Listeria Conference

Friday, September 8, 2006

Washington, D.C. - Innovative breakout session topics, discussions on advanced intervention techniques, analyzing a case study and a talk on food safety assessments are all scheduled for the updated Advanced Listeria Intervention and Control conference, scheduled for Nov. 14-15, 2006 at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colo.

The two-day conference has been updated this year to provide attendees with an even greater take away. The first day of the event begins with the option of two concurrent educational sessions. One will focus on the basics for process control, sanitary equipment design and sanitation best practices. The “Back to the Basics” sessions feature experts in the field, including Joe Stout, Ph.D., director of global product protection, sanitation and hygienic design for Kraft Foods, Inc. and John Butts, Ph.D., vice president of research at Land O’Frost Inc.

The second track will discuss advanced intervention techniques, which is new to the 2006 conference. The presentations on advanced intervention techniques are partially funded through a grant from the National Integrated Food Safety Initiative of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service. These presentations will feature some of the latest research on DNA tracking techniques, new ingredient technologies for preventing growth and alternative intervention techniques in the field from Colorado State University, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Kansas State University, Cornell University and Ohio State University.

Other highlights for this year’s conference include breakout sessions on verification and validation and Listeria best practices, a case study on root cause identification, a presentation on lot and line segregation and a talk on successfully completing a FSIS routine Lm risk-based sampling and food safety assessment.

The conference is limited to 60 participants. Registration can be completed online in the Events/Education section of MeatAMI.com. AMI members receive the special conference rate of $595. Three or more member company attendees receive a discounted rate of $495. All other attendees may register for the regular rate of $695.
