AMI REDESIGNS AND ENHANCES INDUSTRY PORTAL MEATAMI.COM

The American Meat Institute (AMI) today unveiled a redesigned and upgraded portal MeatAMI.com that offers better visual appeal, enhanced navigation, a committee resource center and a new, searchable product directory.

The site’s key new features include:

* Committee Resource Center -- A “members only” special committee center with dedicated committee pages. There, AMI Committee members can find information about upcoming meetings, minutes from previous meetings and frequently needed documents and links.

* Hot Topics on Home Page – A new “Hot Topics” box on MeatAMI.com’s home page facilitates easy access to “in demand” documents.

* Member and Product Directory – A new and fully public AMI Product Search section offers industry members and the public an easy-to-use section to finding companies that make certain types of products. Searches can be done by product category or by key words – like company name or brand.

* Intuitive Navigation – The site’s navigation has been updated to reflect the industry’s priorities. For example, animal welfare and animal health now have more prominent placement. Also, based upon user feedback, documents have been reorganized for ease of use.

The new features augment other popular site sections, including:

* Real-Time News Reporting -- Site users also have come to reply upon the site as a vital news source. News posted to MeatAMI.com is emailed out to subscribers instantly, daily or weekly depending upon the subscriber’s preference. Users also can choose what news they wish to receive by topic. This function is available to both members and the general public at no charge.

* Crisis Center – Here, industry members can find numerous resources to assist in managing a variety of crises, from contact information for laboratories and scientific experts to sample press releases.

* Grass Roots Center – With a few clicks of a button, motivated industry members -- and concerned citizens -- can customize sample letters and sent important communications about key issues to lawmakers and the media. Sign up to receive email alerts when new action alerts are posted.

* Media/Public Center – Members of the media and interested consumers can find fact sheets, photos, and other information resources organized in a user-friendly way.


The site, originally launched in late 2000, has been honored by the American Society for Association Executives as an outstanding web site.

“We hope the new and improved MeatAMI.com will be an increasingly useful resource to industry members, the public and the media,” said AMI President J. Patrick Boyle. “The portal’s new look, combined with its many new features and better navigation, make this a web site that we hope will be visited with increasing frequency.”
