AMI Names J.E. Grote Company Sales Manager Dennis Coyne its 1997 Supplier of the Year

Saturday, November 1, 1997

Dennis Coyne, sales manager for J.E. Grote Company, Inc., in Backlick, OH, was named the American Meat Institute’s Supplier of the Year. The award was presented during the International Meat Industry Convention and Exposition, October 30-November 2 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.

Each year, AMI presents the Supplier of the Year Award to a distinguished member of the supplier community who has made contributions to the progress and efficiency of the meat and poultry industry.

Coyne has served as a dedicated and active member of the AMI Supplier Committee. Coyne chaired the Supplier Committee’s Subcommittee on Equipment Approval, which sought to create a new, fee-for-service equipment approval program in the face of elimination of USDA’s Prior Equipment Approval Program. His company also has been at the forefront of slicing technology, working to enhance the efficiency of meat and poultry companies.

“Coyne also understands the role that supplier companies play in working cooperatively with processing companies to ensure that equipment plays an appropriate and significant role in ensuring the safety and quality of products,” said AMI President J. Patrick Boyle. “Throughout the industry, the Grote Company is synonymous with outstanding after sales service. His leadership in this area has set an outstanding example for other supplier companies.”

AMI represents the interests of packers and processors of beef, pork, lamb, veal and turkey products and their suppliers throughout North America. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Institute provides legislative, regulatory and public relations services, conducts scientific and economic research, offers marketing and technical assistance and sponsors education programs.
