AMI Names Robert Rosado as Director of Legislative Affairs

Wednesday, January 24, 2001

Robert Rosado this month re-joins the American Meat Institute as director of legislative affairs. Rosado served as a legislative and public affairs assistant in the mid 1990s.

In the five years since he left AMI, Rosado has lobbied and managed political action committee activities for both the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and the Independent Petroleum Association of America.

While working at NMMA, Rosado directed the organization’s political action committee, lobbied for the industry regarding land access, tax, environmental and manufacturing issues, wrote testimony and comments on behalf of industry members and conducted congressional tours of manufacturing plants.

Rosado also worked for the Independent Petroleum Association of America where he managed grassroots efforts and public education campaigns and monitored legislative and regulatory initiatives related to natural resources, energy and environmental policies.

Shortly before his first term at AMI, Rosado worked for the National Political Consulting and Fundraising Firm securing endorsements from political action committees for the 1994 congressional and Senate campaigns and accompanying candidates to appearances.

Rosado graduated in 1994 from Drew University in Madison, NJ, with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and economics.

Rosado will report to Vice President of Legislative Affairs Mike Brown. Rosado’s responsibilities include lobbying on environmental, agricultural and immigration issues and overseeing AMI’s political action committee and political education committee.

AMI represents the interests of packers and processors of beef, pork, lamb, veal and turkey products and their suppliers throughout North America. Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Institute provides legislative, regulatory and public relations services, conducts scientific and economic research, offers marketing and technical assistance and sponsors education programs.
