AMI To Host Two Webinars on COOL

Tuesday, June 3, 2008

Washington, DC — AMI will host two webinars, June 10 and June 12, about implementation of mandatory country-of-origin labeling (COOL), which is scheduled to go into effect on September 30, 2008.

AMI Senior Vice President of Regulatory Affairs and General Counsel Mark Dopp will discuss what meat products must bear origin information, how labeling should be written, as well as record-keeping and other requirements.

The first webinar will be held June 10, 2008, at 2 p.m. EST, and will be an informational presentation, with Q&A as time allows.  Participants may submit questions to AMI and these questions will be addressed in a second, follow-up webinar June 12, 2008, at 2 p.m. EST.

“Country-of-origin labeling implementation is complex and there is the potential for penalties if not implemented properly,” said Dopp. “We hope these webinars will assist members as they prepare for implementation.”

Registration is free to AMI members; $100 for non-members.  The registration fee includes both webinars.
