NAMI Announces Support of Meat Industry Sponsors at 2016 IPPE

Expo Offers Large Variety of Meat-Specific Programming

Washington, DC – The North American Meat Institute (NAMI) today announced the support of the Southwest Meat Association (SMA), the Southeastern Meat Association (SEMA), the American Association of Meat Processors (AAMP) and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) for the upcoming 2016 International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE), scheduled to take place January 26-28, 2016, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

“We are fortunate to have the support of these organizations at the upcoming IPPE,” said NAMI President and CEO Barry Carpenter. “Their participation is invaluable to the Institute’s members, and creates unparalleled networking opportunities, builds stronger relationships within the industry and exposes a broader audience to timely education sessions and innovative exhibits.”

Together with the Meat Institute, SEMA, SMA, AAMP and NCBA are assisting efforts to promote the 2016 IPPE and encourage their members to attend. SEMA, SMA and the American Meat Science Association (AMSA) also will host booths at the Expo.

“The participation of such important meat industry organizations further bolsters the already strong support IPPE has received from NAMI member companies and industry publications,” Carpenter said. “Their partnership is a testament to our industry’s commitment to collaboration and has made IPPE the premier event in North America showcasing the latest in meat processing and production innovation.”

Meanwhile, NCBA is sending research teams from Colorado State University, Oklahoma State University and Texas A&M University to collect data for the National Beef Quality Audit. Data is collected by interviews every five years to document industry accomplishments, future challenges and areas in need of improvement.

“The data gathered through the National Beef Quality Audit is crucial to Meat Institute members, and we are happy to make it more convenient to complete this important research,” Carpenter said. “We recognize IPPE is the one major show where we can meet with a critical mass of our target companies in the beef industry.”

The 2016 IPPE also includes a large offering of free and paid meat-specific education sessions, with workshops addressing Food Safety and Inspection Service Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points validation, challenges and opportunities in meat product traceability and media training for meat and poultry industry professionals, among numerous other sessions. NAMI and AMSA will co-sponsor a Pork 101 education session, which will cover quality and consistency issues in the pork industry, while providing insight on value differences in swine, pork carcasses, pork primals and processed pork products.

IPPE, the largest annual global meat, poultry and feed industry trade show, will highlight the latest technology, equipment and services used in the production and processing of meat, poultry and feed products.
