The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) published its responses to comments on its HACCP Plan Reassessment for Not-Ready-to-Eat (NRTE) Comminuted Poultry Products and Related Agency Verification Procedures Notice, which was originally released in December 2012. The original notice provided updated information on FSIS sampling and testing of these products and on how it is verifying that establishments are effectively addressing the possible presence of Salmonella and Campylobacter in them.

FSIS says it intends to continue the current sampling program until new Salmonella and Campylobacter pathogen performance standards are implemented.
