Updated Trade and Market Statistics Released

Monday, May 6, 2013

(American Meat Institute)

U.S. meat export data now is available through March 2013. U.S. beef exports continue the same trend of lower quantities exported and higher values, reflecting the higher price of beef in the market. Of note are the large volume and value increases to Hong Kong and Taiwan compared to the same period in 2012. Pork exports are down -12% in volume and -11% in value, with exports to Russia down more than 60% from last year due to market trade barriers. Poultry exports are largely consistent with 2012 levels, and lamb/mutton exports are down on volume while up on value. Full export statistics are available here.
