Washington, DC, January 17, 2013 – The American Meat Institute Foundation (AMIF) is accepting applications for both Worker Safety Recognition Awards and Environmental Recognition Awards. Award winners will be honored on March 20, 2013 as part of AMIF's Conference on Worker Safety, Human Resources and the Environment at the Westin Crown Center, Kansas City, Missouri.
The Worker Safety Awards are a joint effort between the American Meat Institute and the National Safety Council designed to motivate companies to improve their safety performance through the establishment of sound safety and health programs at the plant level and to recognize those plants that have achieved a high level of safety performance as part of the continuing effort to reduce occupational injury and illness. In addition, the program has the potential to boost employee morale, reduce expenses associated with injuries and illness in the workplace and enhance the meat and poultry industry’s overall image regarding employee safety and health.
Meanwhile, The Environmental Recognition Awards were developed to provide acknowledgment of a company’s dedication to continuous environmental improvement, as witnessed by the development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS). Four tiers are available to encourage EMS development through a stepwise approach. Tier I, II, II or IV awards are based on points assigned by responses to the program questionnaire, and represent achievement of progressively more sophisticated environmental programs and EMSs.
AMIF is expanding the Worker Safety Recognition Award program and is now accepting applications for plants with NAICS codes other than 311611, 311612, and 311615. For more information or to apply for a plant with a different NAICS code, contact Jessica Mosley at email@example.com.
