FSIS Issues Directive on Verification of Salmonella Initiative ProgramFriday, August 12, 2011
(American Meat Institute)The United States Department of Agriculture’s
Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) today
issued directive 5020.1 on verification of the
Salmonella Initiative Program (SIP).
The directive instructs inspection program personnel on how they are to discuss SIP with management of an establishment participating in SIP, and on how they are to verify that the establishment is following all procedures agreed to as a condition of participating in SIP.
