FSIS Delays PHIS Implementation for Second Wave of CircuitsMonday, June 6, 2011
(American Meat Institute)
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has delayed implementation of the second wave of circuits that was scheduled to begin today using the new Public Health Information System (PHIS).
FSIS Administrator Al Almanza recently conducted a town hall meeting with employees to talk about PHIS. During the meeting, he discussed the valuable information he has received from employees since PHIS was implemented in some circuits on April 11. Based on that information, he announced that implementing PHIS in the second phase of circuits would be delayed to make necessary improvements.
This delay means that training will not occur during the month of July, but rather is expected to resume in August. More information about PHIS may be found at www.fsis.usda.gov/PHIS.share on facebook share on twitter
