The American Meat Institute (AMI) and the Japan America Society of Chicago partnered last week to collect more than $36,000 in donations for the Japan Disaster Relief Drive during AMI’s International Meat, Poultry & Seafood Convention and Exposition at McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill.
Expo attendees made tax-deductible contributions via cash, check and credit card and nearly thirty AMI member companies pledged to match contributions made during the relief drive. The resulting $36,000 will be donated in full to the Japanese Red Cross to aid Japanese victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami.
Japanese Consul General of Chicago George Hisaeda was in attendance at the AMI Awards Breakfast where Expo attendees and AMI Board members had the opportunity to speak directly with him.
Donation forms are still available at http://www.meatinstitute.org/ht/a/GetDocumentAction/i/68155 and pledges can be forwarded to AMI through the end of April.share on facebook share on twitter
