FSIS Issues Instructional Notices on Chemical Residues

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued two instructional notices relating to chemical residues.

The first notice, FSIS Notice 13-11, Level of In-Plant Target Testing for Chemical Residues, instructs inspection program personnel on level of targeted testing for chemical residues to “provide an incentive for establishments to provide producer information and have effective residue control programs in establishments slaughtering cull dairy cows and bob veal calves.”  To view this notice, click here: http://www.fsis.usda.gov/OPPDE/rdad/FSISNotices/13-11.pdf.

The second notice, FSIS Notice 12-11, How to Proceed in Establishments That Have Multiple FSIS Laboratory Confirmed Residue Violations from the Same Source Supplier, is a reissuance of FSIS Notice 03-10, and advises Public Health Veterinarians on how to proceed under these circumstances.  To view this notice, click here: http://www.fsis.usda.gov/OPPDE/rdad/FSISNotices/12-11.pdf.
