FSIS Issues Notice on Usage of In-Commerce SystemThursday, November 5, 2009

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued Notice 76-09: Ensuring the Integrity of Firm Information Data in the In-Commerce System (ICS). This notice cancels FSIS Notice 76-09 and provides FSIS Office of Program Evaluation, Enforcement and Review (OPEER), Office of Field Operations (OFO) and Office of International Affairs (OIA) personnel instructions for entering new firms into the Assurance Net/In-Commerce System (ICS). The notice also provides instruction on how to conduct firm searches in the ICS and actions to take when users identify duplicate firm records in the ICS.
The ICS provides OPEER, OFO, OIA, and other program personnel with data management, reporting and management control applications. The ICS system includes six component modules for Firm Information, Surveillance, Investigations, Product Control, Enforcement and Supervision (Out of Plant Performance System).
