Attendees can save up to $100 on registration fees by registering prior to January 30 for the 2009 Animal Care and Handling Conference. Early Bird member rates are $375 for AMI members. Three or more members may register together for $325.
The AMI Foundation Animal Care and Handling Conference for the Food Industry is the leading animal welfare education opportunity for meat companies, their customers and those involved in the production and management of livestock and meat products, and will be held March 18-19, 2009, at the Westin Crown Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
On March 17, immediately preceding the Animal Care and Handling Conference, the AMI Foundation, together with the Animal Transportation Association (AATA) will host their second Livestock Transportation Conference. Attendees will benefit from a packed educational agenda with sessions hosted by industry leaders. The conference is designed for members of the meat industry, livestock producers and transporters and anyone involved in the care and handling of livestock.
Some of the topics on the preliminary agenda include: Alberta livestock industry’s proactive approach to transportation welfare; transportation audits; how trucking companies manage the risk of unfit animals; how unfit animals leave plants vulnerable; cross-border collaboration between Canada and the United States; lessons learned through science; pig transportation research; trailer design and transport losses; beef transport benchmarking study; sheep transportation research; and a summary of issues and panel discussion.
