Report on 17th Session of Codex Committee on Food Imports and Export Inspection Now AvailableWednesday, December 31, 2008

The report of the U.S. Delegate, Codex Committee on Food Import and Export Inspection Certification Systems, 17th Session, is now available. This session was held November 24-28 in Cebu, Philippines.
During the 17th session, the Committee completed work on a Generic Model Official Certificate as an Annex to the Codex Guidelines for the Design, Production, Issuance and Use of Generic Official Certificates (CAC/GL 38-2001). The Committee also continued work on the development of Proposed Draft Principles for the Conduct of Foreign On-Site Audits and Inspections and agreed to undertake new work to develop Principles and Guidelines for National Food Control Systems.
The Committee did not, however, approve new work to develop implementing guidance relating to traceability/product tracing.
