FSIS Issues HIKE Scenario on Egregious Electrical StunningFriday, June 27, 2008

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) Humane Interactive Knowledge Exchange (HIKE) has issued HIKE Scenario 03-08:Egregious Electrical Stunning.
This scenario gives advice and instruction on how inspectors should handle a noncompliance with respect to 9 CFR 313.30 (a) (4), which states that a stunned animal “shall remain in a state of surgical anesthesia through shackling, sticking and bleeding.” To view this scenario, click here http://www.fsis.usda.gov/FSIS_Employees/HIKE_03-08/index.asp.
