Applications for Worker Safety Awards Due in January

Thursday, December 21, 2000

The AMI Foundation’s 2001 Conference on Worker Safety, Health & Human Resources is fast approaching as is the deadline to submit application materials for the AMIF Safety Awards.
Awards applications and questionnaires from the National Safety Council were mailed on Dec. 15. All completed applications and questionnaires must be returned to the National Safety Council by January 19.
The AMIF Safety Awards are the highlight of the Worker Safety conference, which will be held March 11-14, 2001, at the Denver - Marriott City Center in Denver, CO.
Designed and administered by the National Safety Council (NSC), the AMIF awards program encourages member employees to improve their safety performance through establishment of sound safety and health programs. Last year more than 160 meat and poultry plants received safety awards.
The awards are based on an evaluation of each eligible plant’s actual safety performance, which is measured against Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data, and its implementation of key components of and effective safety and health program, which is tabulated through a NSC-designed plant questionnaire.
All questions regarding the awards should be directed to Kevin Fearn at the National Safety Council Research Department at 630/775-2322 or fearnk@nsc.org. If you wish to receive additional information on the conference please contact Sue Brandt, Manager, Convention Services at 703/841-2400.
