AMI Will Work With AMS on Price Reporting Inaccuracies

Friday, May 18, 2001

AMI will meet next week with USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service to determine the scope of the meat and livestock reporting inaccuracies, AMI said in a statement today.
The scope of the problem and its financial impact is not yet known, the statement said. But AMI is eager to work with the agency to participate in the development of a reasonable and workable solution for all parties.
The agency has determined that a software error in the computer program for USDA’s Mandatory Price Reporting system, that has since been corrected, caused the discrepancies. The boxed beef cutout and primal cut values reported in the National Daily Boxed Beef Cutout and Boxed Beef Cuts for April 3 through May 11 may have been incorrectly calculated and will be corrected as early as May 21.
