AMS Sets Mandatory Price Reporting Education Sessions

To assist producers and others in understanding the new mandatory price reporting program, USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is providing education and outreach sessions across the country, starting next week.
The new program, announced Nov. 28, will require large packers and importers to report to AMS the details of their transactions involving livestock purchases as well as the sales of boxed beef and lamb, lamb carcasses and imported boxed lamb cuts.
Sessions are planned for the following locations:
December 19, 2000 - Washington, D.C. (Reporting Industry Informational Meeting)
January 25-27, 2001 - Reno, Nev. (American Sheep Industry Association Meeting)
January 31-February 3, 2001 - San Antonio, Texas (National Cattlemen's Beef Association Meeting)
Future sessions are being planned for the following locations in January 2001: Ames, Iowa; Sioux Falls and Rapid City, S.D.; Billings, Mont.; Denver, Colo.; Amarillo, Texas; Indianapolis, Ind.; and Clinton, N.C.
