Argentina Stops Meat Exports Over Foot and Mouth Disease WorriesTuesday, March 13, 2001
Argentina has notified international animal health authorities of its concerns about a possible outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD). Until these concerns are resolve, the country's Farming and Food Health Agency said it will not certify exports to key markets, including the U.S., Canada and Chile. The action follows numerous rumors of outbreaks of the disease in Argentina. The Argentine government continues to say it has found no evidence such outbreaks have occurred.
